Verses 14-16, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Our daily reading now turns to the Sermon on the Mount. Great words of wisdom from Jesus that are often misunderstood and probably watered down to an easier reading.
We have a responsibility as followers of Jesus to live such lives that points the way back to God. People are watching us one way or another. They will either be attracted to God because of our lifestyle or pushed away from God by it.
I believe that Charter Oak Church is positioned on this hill for a reason - that people who don't walk in the way of Jesus would be drawn to God. Our building gives us a platform to be the disciples that Jesus calls us to be. Our building isn't the church, our people are the church.
I must let my light shine brightly for God's glory. I cannot be influenced by others to cover that light up. As John Wesley once said I want to catch fire for God so others will come watch me burn.
